Why Visit Val D’Isere in the Northern Alps
Unrivaled amongst most famed ski areas, Val d’Isre sports 437 kilometres of groomed runs and is easily accessible from Geneva airport. Skiing begins during early November and finishes in the beginning of May. The purpose built French village caters everything for you. The town stretches along the vale from La Daille until Le Fornet with the apres ski in the centre of Val d’Isere. This cluster of cute chalets contain chic dress shops most of which have sprung up since the village was picked for the 1992 Winter Olympics.
Split into 3 different parts the town has many pistes for all levels. With a great historical snow record, the resort is enormously fashionable amidst pro skiers and boarders and piste hungry intermediates, on the other hand you do not need to be especially adventurous to relish what is there. It is easy to how come so many Brits are attracted to the town, with its renowned night-life and the range of amusement on offer, moreover the close proximity of Tignes allows you to venture out to less busy climes if it all gets a bit much.
Pros
A superior night-life in the Alps. Everyone speaks English. Quick approach to Val d’Isre and Tignes known as the the Espace Killy skiing area. There is a lot of traffic and though there are many buses in the daytime, committed apres skiers had better head to be within walking distance of the centre.
Cons
Overpriced. Frantic and popular with English clientle, and so not for those looking for a classic French resort to enjoy a relaxing trip. Many ski lifts can shut in bad conditions. Several hard blue and green runs.
